Never-before-seen photos of Edward VIII, aged 11, and George VI, aged 9, have been unearthed 117 years later.
The improvements also form part of the widerHarbour Strategy approved by Tynwald in 2018, which included an upgrade to the King Edward VIII Pier to accommodate a larger vessel as a replacement for the Ben-my-Chree.
Whereas Edward VIII was never coronated because he abdicated 11 months after becoming King in 1936 – while plans for his coronation were still being made.
